Sometimes you delete a bookmark while navigating among the different parts of the document because you can’t see bookmarks. To make bookmarks visible, click File tab and choose Options. The “Word Options” dialog box appears, click the Advanced from the left pane, check the Bookmarks box from the right pane under the “Show document content” heading, and click the OK button:
File > Options > AdvancedBookmarks that have contents appear with brackets around them. Bookmarks that are just points appear as heavy I-beams.
